Dr. Kurt S. Takamine
Dr. Kurt S.
Takamine is a Senior Research Fellow at the Leadership Education
for Asian Pacifics, Inc., Los Angeles, California (2000 to
Present), focusing on corporate research topics for the Fortune
1000 . He is also a Graduate Professor of Organizational
Leadership at Chapman University, Manhattan Beach, California
(1997-Present). Previously, he worked for the City of Long Beach
Health Department, Environmental Health Division as a water
protection specialist (1985-2000).
Dr. Takamine
received his Ed.D. degree in Organizational Leadership from the
Graduate School of Psychology and Education, Pepperdine
University in 2000. He received a Masters of Arts in Theology and
Ethics in 1992 from Azusa Pacific University, and another Masters
of Science in 1990 from the School of Environmental and
Occupational Health, California State University, Northridge. He
also has two Bachelors of Arts degrees, one in Human Biology from
California State University, Northridge (1983), and the other in
Social Ethics from the University of Southern California (1981).
Dr. Takamine has
authored two books, "Servant-Leadership in the Real Work:
Recapturing Our Humanity in the Workplace" (AmErica Press), and
"Investing in Your Company's Future Today: Retaining Your Asian
Pacific American Professionals" (LEAP Publications, 2002), as
well as numerous articles on career advancement, organizational
leadership, and glass ceiling issues.
Born in West Los
Angeles, Dr. Takamine and his wife Paula have two sons, Calvin
Takamine (15 years old) and Davis Takamine (14 years old). His
parents, Michael and Akiko Takamine (Maui and Kauai
respectively), both were born in Hawaii.
